1895 — American gunfighter John Wesley Hardin was shot dead in the Acme Saloon in El Paso, Texas, by local lawman John Selman Sr. 2001 — Cost of the Canadian Firearms Program more than doubles, to an estimated $527 million. The CFP says a major factor behind the ballooning costs is the difficulty keeping track of licence fees collected. This is blamed, in part, on the computer system used to process applications.
