  • 2009 — The federal government asks Canada's Privacy Commissioner to look into whether the RCMP should have passed on personal information from the national gun registry to a pollster. The inquiry comes after some Canadian gun owners voice their anger with the RCMP for passing on personal information from the registry to a polling company for a research study. The poll was supposedly done to gauge gun owners' satisfaction with the RCMP's firearms program.
