Interesting year. Gun ownership in the US rose to an all-time high, while violent crime fell to a 35-year low. Despite this, the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts held that Heller did not apply to the Massachusetts state legislature and that the gun locks ordered under Massachusetts law are different than those regulated in Heller. California, meanwhile, tried to institute a firearm microstamping law (which would have conveniently exempted law enforcement). It failed.

Kimber introduced their Ultra RCP II (a subcompact 1911 from the company's Custom Shop that features a sighting trough instead of conventional sights) and Chiappa turned the world of revolvers upside-down (sort of) when they started cranking out the Rhino.

Nicole Franks got off to a poor start, as her performance in the first half of the season was hampered by a back injury she suffered early in the year.
