1837 — American gunfighter and lawman Wild Bill Hickok was born in Troy Grove, Illinois. 1882 — the El Paso, Texas town council announced the firing of Dallas Stoudenmire, after he had lowered El Paso's violent crime rate more than any lawman who came before him. Today is Armed Forces Day in Nicaragua.
