[edit] Blacklisted sites

Sometimes ya just gotta...
If you're looking here, chances are you've seen the message,

...and then came here for an explanation. While we really, really hate doing it, some sites just have to be blacklisted if we're going to be able to run this site smoothly. Because of that, a site really has to make a severe nuisance out of itself to get on this list:

  1. hotmail.com: Hotmail was B& after having been the source of hundreds of spam account registrations, every freaking day, for over a year. That's right: over 100,000 spam accounts in 2012/13 alone. When it finally got to the point where even the automated scripts we were running on our end could hardly keep up with the mess, hotmail had to go.
  2. spambog.com: Do you really have to ask?? Like the name isn't a bit of a hint...
  3. kinefi.pl: Known spamhaus. Following the blocking of hotmail, was responsible for approximately 20% of all spambot registrations, with no legit accounts having ever come from there. Blocked 11/23/2013.

A complete list of the sites we have specifically blacklisted can be found here If you are the owner of a site that you think got the Banhammer™ unfairly, contact a Gunsopedia admin. Bear in mind however, that that is only a list of the sites that have been singly B& by Gunsopedia, and does not include the totally bigass blacklist maintained by Wikimedia that we (and hundreds of other wiki-based sites) also pull from. So, if a site is found on Wikimedia's blacklist, there's no point complaining to us about it.
