Tikka (and Sako) are now owned by Beretta. The 22-250 is based on the 250-3000 Savage case necked down to .22 caliber and is so named because of the caliber (22) and the parent case (250). In 1996 there was a merger between Lakefield Arms (Ontario), Savage Arms Inc., and Passive Bullet Traps Inc., amalgamating under the name Savage Sports Incorporated.
