1872 — Greek Olympic shooter Konstantinos Skarlatos was born at Vitolista near Nafpaktos. He would go on to compete in the 1906 and 1912 Summer Olympics as a sport shooter, winning the gold in the 25 m dueling pistol event in 1906. 1985 — Serial killer Richard Ramirez, aka the "Night Stalker", commits the first two murders in his Los Angeles, California murder spree. In all, Ramirez would kill 14 known victims, all of whom had been disarmed by the state for his convenience, and therefore unable to defend themselves.
