- 1917 — An improved version of the Huot automatic rifle is given a second 650-round trial at Quebec City. Master-General of Ordnance Major Blair would demand a third test, of 11,000 rounds.
- 2002 — Smith & Wesson Corp., recently acquired by from Tompkins PLC (whose kowtowing to the Clinton administration had led gun owners to boycott S&W products en masse), becomes the Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation.
