2003 — Bill C-10A, An Act to Amend the Criminal Code (Firearms) and the Firearms Act, received Royal Assent. Statutory authority of all operations was consolidated under the Canadian Firearms Commissioner, who reported directly to the Solicitor General.
2010 — During Parliamentary hearings into the long-gun registry, the President of the Canadian Police Association, Charles Momy, admitted to the House of Commons Public Safety Committee that less than 1 per cent of his association’s membership responded to a survey supporting the long-gun registry.
