  • 1918 — Lieutenant-General Arthur Currie, commanding the Canadian Corps, wrote requesting 5,000 Huot automatic rifles be purchased, arguing casualties required increased firepower for each remaining man, as well as to allow his men to answer the growing number of German light machine guns.
  • 1981 — The state of Florida's right-to-carry law became effective. This law requires that CCW licensees be 21 years of age or older, have clean criminal/mental health records, and complete a firearms safety/training course.
  • Today is also World Vegetarian* Day.
