[edit] Mission statement

The following is taken, word for word, directly form the CanadaCarry website:

CanadaCarry was born out of the strong desire of many law-abiding Canadians to have the option legally to carry a firearm for the defence of themselves and their loved ones in case of emergency.

We look forward to the chance to get some common sense and clear thinking in front of a lot of decent, good, Canadians -- we hope they take the time to read and understand -- and we welcome them here to join us in gaining the means of meaningful self-defence.

People who aren't easy victims aren't likely to be victims.

It is our sincere hope to be able to encourage concerned members of the public and the law-abiding firearms (handgun owners) community to become pro-active. The time has come to address the issues of the "Authorization To Carry" permit, (the "ATC" sometimes referred to as a “CCW” or "Carry Concealed Weapon" permit.) The ATC is the licence to carry a sidearm for protection of life that is already allowed for in Canadian law. It needs to be available to all law-abiding Canadians, not just a privileged few. We want you with us -- concerned, responsible, Canadians from Newfoundland to B.C and from all walks of life.

Canada has come of age in the matter of self-defense. It is time to show that we are responsible in the matter of firearms; we must break away from the pattern of being victims; we are the sole people responsible for our own safety.

CanadaCarry hopes to become a rally point, a source of pertinent ATC information, a source of inspiration to those who seek to claim their rights.

It is written in the “Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms” that, “Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and the security of person...”. Together, we must claim those rights.

Canadians have been misled and misinformed for much too long. Our government and the anti-firearms advocates have spoken half-truths and omitted pertinent information, which has left most Canadians with a skewed view of self-defence and firearms. We hope to provide the truth so that our fellow citizens will be equipped to make an informed opinion on this issue.

CanadaCarry is to be a place for “action.” We hope to be able to keep our members focused on the task at hand; which is ATC. We need your help; we must all stand together if we hope to achieve our goals. We will no longer be victims; we must take responsibility for our own safety.
